Join members of the Loyola community, the Jesuit community, local and state leaders, and higher education leaders from throughout the country as we formally inaugurate Terrence M. Sawyer, J.D., as the 25th President of Loyola University Maryland. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m., with the Academic Procession.
Join the Loyola community for a special luncheon on the Academic Quadrangle after the convocation.
All undergraduate and graduate classes will be canceled from 2–4:30 p.m. on Oct. 11 for Mass and from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. on Oct. 12 for Convocation and Lunch.

In our Catholic, Jesuit tradition, our Loyola family will mark the Inauguration of the 25th president with a special Mass. Together, we will pray for President Terrence M. Sawyer, J.D., his family, and our Loyola community at this exciting moment for our University.

Learning is at the heart of our mission as a Jesuit, liberal arts university. In honor of this historic moment for our community, we will invite our faculty, staff, administrators, and students to participate in an academic symposium on the theme, "Enacting Eloquentia Perfecta: Reimagining Academic Discourse and Building Community in the Modern University."
The keynote speaker will be Kathleen Sprows Cummings, Ph.D., professor of American studies and history at the University of Notre Dame, where she also directs the Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism.

Loyola students will gather on the Academic Quadrangle for a festive evening of music by the Kelly Bell Band, free food and a fireworks display as we celebrate our 25th president. A special commemorative giveaway will be available on a first-come, first-served basis!
