The 2023 Silver Celebration is a joint ceremony honoring BIPOC Students, First-Generation College Students, International Students, and LGBTQPIA+ Students from the Class of 2023.


LGBTQPIA+ Students & Allies
With a silver and lavender graduation cord, we honor the accomplishments of our queer-identifying graduates as well as those students who have demonstrated active allyship with the LGBTQPIA+ community during their time at Loyola.

BIPOC Students & ALANA Organization Leaders
With a silver, black, and gold graduation cord, we honor the accomplishments of members of the Class of 2023 who identify as Black, African-American, Asian-American, Pacific Islander, Native American, First-Nations, Indigenous, Latinx, Middle Eastern, South Asian, Desi, from the Caribbean, multi-racial, a student of color, and/or have served in a leadership role within any of ALANA’s student organizations.

First-Generation College Student
With a silver and orange graduation cord, we honor those graduates who are in the first generation of their immediate family to receive a bachelor’s degree and have successfully navigated the complexities of higher education to the completion of their degree this May.

International Student
With a silver and cyan graduation cord, we honor our Class of 2023 International Graduates
 

How to Participate:

If you are a member of any of the above communities and would like to be included in this year's celebration, please RSVP  and complete the registration form no later than Friday, March 31st. We look forward to you joining us for this celebration on Wednesday, April 19th at 5:00 PM.

When you RSVP, you'll also be asked a series of questions to ensure we properly recognize you at the event.
 

Not Able to Attend In Person?

RSVP "Not Attending - Reserving Cords Only."  Cords will be available for pickup at the Center for Community, Service, and Justice (CCSJ), located on the first floor of the Humanities Building.  Please keep in mind that cords will ONLY be available for pick up during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-5:00PM.

Cords will not be available on the day of Commencement, so please plan accordingly.
 

Nominations for Commitment to Equity & Inclusion Award

Every year, The Office of Equity & Inclusion honors three graduating seniors who have dedicated their time at Loyola to creating a campus community that more closely aligns with our core values of Diversity, Justice, and a Constant Challenge to Improve. Through their advocacy, compassion, and curiosity, they are departing Loyola’s campus having made it a more inclusive and equitable place for future Greyhounds.
