Loyola has been running a VITA clinic at Belvedere Square, where dedicated volunteers offer their skills to prepare tax returns for our lower-income community members, entirely free of charge. This initiative not only allows us to give back to our community but also offers an enriching experience for our volunteers.
1. Networking Opportunities: Prof. Bender, the coordinator of this program, is recruiting several CPAs from renowned local firms to assist with the clinic's oversight. This presents an unmatched chance to interact, learn from, and network with these professionals, potentially unlocking new career avenues for you.
2. Client Relation Skills: Engaging directly with clients at the VITA clinic will hone your interpersonal and client relation skills – a valuable asset in any career path.
3. Training & Certification: To ensure our volunteers are well-equipped, there will be a training session in January followed by an IRS exam. This is a great opportunity to enhance your skill set and add a recognized certification to your resume.
4. Flexible Volunteering Schedule: We understand that your time is valuable. Thus, you can choose to volunteer at the clinic on five separate occasions, including a mix of Tuesday nights, Thursday nights, and Saturday mornings/early afternoons, as per your convenience.
