President

President Sawyer joined the University in 1998, serving in a number of roles including as the senior vice president for advancement prior to becoming Loyola's 25th President.

Dean of Undergraduate Studies

Mike is the academic dean for undergraduate students. Prior to this role, he served as both the Director of the Messina Program as well as an Assistant Director in Student Life.

Sara joined Loyola in 2001, first serving in the Office of Student Life before joining the Student Engagement Team. Her roles have included leadership development, discernment and transition experiences, and new student orientation.

Evergreen Program Coordinator

Samantha Jones is a junior communication major from Frederick, Maryland. Samantha is one of our current Evergreen Program Coordinators. She is a member of the Evergreen Players, SGA Oversight Committee, Bandana Brigade, Mosaic: A Womxn of Color Iniative, and is a current editor for the Greyhound newspaper.

Deborah Cady Melzer, Ph.D.

Vice President for Student Development

Deborah Cady Melzer, Ph.D. joined Loyola in July 2022 after serving at Assumption University as the vice president for student affairs and dean of students. Prior to Assumption, Deb worked in a variety of student affairs roles including in residential life, new student programs, community standards, Title IX, campus ministry and student activities.

Fr. Phil Hurley, S.J.

University Chaplain

Fr. Phil returns to his alma mater, Loyola, serving as the university chaplain. Fr. Phil most recenlty served as a pastor at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church in Raleigh, NC. He is bilingual in English and Spanish. He holds an M.A. in Philosophy from St. Louis University and an M.Div. from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, CA.
