Dear students,
As you make your summer plans, if you find yourselves wanting to be on campus, please know that there are summer stipends for Loyola College of Arts and Sciences students in particular sets of experiences.
Students who are eligible to apply for this funding fall into one of the following categories: being a summer student employee in a LCAS department (including WLOY and Greycomm), Hauber Fellow, Social Science Summer Research Fellow, Social Science Student Research Assistant, Center for Humanities Summer Student Research Assistant, Center for the Humanities Summer Fellow, Center for Humanities Aperio Summer Researcher, Center for the Humanities Summer Study Program Stipend Recipient, Center for the Humanities Summer Internship Stipend Recipient, Center for the Humanities Aperio Summer Researcher, Peace and Justice Studies Academic and Creative Summer Grant Recipient, Catholic Studies Student Summer Research Grant Recipient , or a student completing an Internship (or field experience) for credit within LCAS. You’ll recall that we finalized a range of students’ experiences are part of this grant, and some but not all of those students already qualify for 50% discounted summer funding by virtue of their status through SAS (Hauber, Kolvenbach, CFH Summer research fellow, and SS summer research fellow).
As you calculate the days/weeks that you would be in need of summer housing on campus, please be aware that Residence Life will NOT be supporting student move-ins on weekends or Holidays, including University days off such as Memorial day (5/26-5/29), Independence day (7/3-4), and Juneteenth (6/19), for example.
Please send all applications to Julieta Guerra (jguerra@loyola.edu) by Friday, March 31st by 5pm. The application is attached to this email.
Associate Dean Barry will promptly review those applications that evening and reach out within a week or so thereafter. Residence Life has asked that all those receiving discounted housing and for anyone to receive priority in getting housing must apply for housing no later than Wednesday, April 12th. Ensure that your students’ complete their Summer 2023 Housing Application on the RoomRez Housing Portal. Instructions for students have already been sent. Student Life may deny any application that does not meet their criteria (see below for criteria). All students interested in remaining on campus MUST complete a Summer Housing Application.

SUMMER HOUSING AT LOYOLA GENERAL INFORMATION
Additional detailed information about summer housing is available on the Student Life website, including FAQs about summer housing.
To be approved to live on campus over the summer, you must meet ONE of the following criteria:
- Enrolled in a summer term course.
- On-campus employment/internship with a supervisor verification.
- On-campus fellowship/research/grant with a supervisor verification.
- Off-campus employment/internship within the vicinity of Baltimore (with proof of employment upon request).
Additionally, to be approved to live on campus over the summer, you must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- You must be in good financial standing with Loyola.
- You must be in good judicial standing with Loyola.
- You must be registered with a full-time course load for the Fall 2023 semester.
All summer housing students will be required to sign a summer 2023 Housing Contract when submitting their application.
Please note: Failure to meet the required criteria listed above after summer housing begins will result in the cancellation of your summer housing contract, and you will be required to vacate your apartment immediately.
SUMMER HOUSING FEE
There is a cost of $37 per day for summer housing. All students will be assigned an individual bedroom within an apartment-style housing. The specific cost of your housing will be based on your expected check-in and check-out dates provided in your housing application. The daily summer rate will begin on Sunday, May 21 and end on Friday, August 18. Residents requesting housing before and after these dates will be considered a housing contract extension and not charged.

SUMMER HOUSING LOCATION
Summer housing will be in Campion Tower, and students will be assigned an individual bedroom within a shared apartment. Currently, students are unable to request an alternative residence hall location.
SUMMER HOUSING APPLICATION
If you meet the above requirements and request summer housing, please submit a Summer 2023 housing application in the RoomRez Housing portal. The housing application priority deadline is Wednesday, April 12, 2023. All applications submitted after this date will be assigned summer housing based on availability.
The summer housing application will ask you the following questions. Please be prepared to answer them before starting your application:
- Reason for summer housing: all students requesting summer housing must submit an application/ contract regardless of the reason. If your request is related to a Loyola university commitment (e.g. employment, research, athletics, etc.) remind your supervisor to submit their Staff Summer Housing Verification form to Student Life.
- Requested summer housing dates: on the application, please select the specific dates you intend to reside on-campus. Your summer housing bill will be based on the specific dates you select. Please note, all student arrivals will occur during Student Life weekday business hours (no weekends or holidays). Please carefully review the dates within the housing application to learn which dates are not valid for move-in.
- Roommate requests: priority will be given to students who apply by Wednesday, April 12, 2023. However, please note, that we cannot guarantee specific roommates. As a reminder, as outlined in the summer housing contract, the Office of Student Life reserves the right to assign anyone to an open space in your apartment.
RENTERS INSURANCE
The University assumes no liability for bodily injury. The University is not responsible for theft, loss, or damage to a Student's personal property and encourages all Students to carry appropriate personal insurance. Students and families are encouraged to check their homeowners' insurance policies to see if they cover Students' lost property. Students and families also can purchase insurance from the Grad Guard renter's insurance plan. www.gradguard.com
SUMMER STORAGE OPPORTUNITY
For students who are approved for summer housing and plan to check-out of their Spring assignment before Saturday, May 13, temporary summer storage may be available. Student Life offers temporary summer transition storage (until Wednesday, June 1) for your items until you return to move into your summer assignment for a one-time fee of $25. Students will need to move their items into the storage area prior to spring check-out and move the items into their summer assignment once they check-in to summer housing.
Please note, summer storage is only available until June 1. If you fail to remove your items by the deadline you will be charged the daily contract extension rate of $80 per day. Students checking-in to summer housing after June 1 are not eligible for summer storage
