Title : An alphabetic version of the Advanced Encryption Standard
Title : An alphabetic version of the Advanced Encryption Standard
Abstract:
The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) describes the encryption algorithm that is officially approved by the United States for all commercial and military applications. It is defined on binary data and as such some of its features are not as easily understood by students as classical encryption techniques which are defined on strings of letters. This talk will describe how to modify parts of the AES algorithm to work directly with letters. We will discuss some general features of encryption, some results we need from abstract algebra, and some notions of computational efficiency.
This talk will be suitable for Students.
Refreshments will be served.
