Details

Students, faculty, and staff are navigating a challenging world together in the school building. In counseling, there is a lot of conversation around trauma-informed and/or culturally responsive practices. But what could that actually look like, in practice? And how can we use those principles and practices within the whole school community? In this session, we will briefly review the basic principles of trauma-informed and culturally responsive counseling practices and then shift into the practices that can support whole school communities. This session is meant for all counselors and counselors-in-training.

Objectives

1) Participants will be able to describe the principles of trauma-informed and culturally responsive counseling practices.
2) Participant will be able to identify 1-2 practices that they can implement in their school building to support their school community.
