One of the dualities of working with counseling interns is being able to both see the growth and development they have throughout a semester, while also recognizing the challenges that come with having to confront behaviors and/or dispositions that may be happening. In this, supervisors have to balance their multiple hats: in mentoring, in counseling and coaching, and in gatekeeping. In this session, we will explore some best practices while also using case studies to help you find your own way through challenging behavioral and dispositional situations. This session is meant for counselor supervisors.

Objectives:
1) Participants will be able to identify the different roles supervisors may play with counseling interns.
2) Participants will be able to identify 1-2 strategies to have difficult conversations with counseling interns.
3) Participants will have an opportunity to practice strategies in having difficult conversations through the use of case studies.
