The Developing School Counselor: Case Studies in Supervision (School Counseling Program Professional Development)

There are multiple challenges that face developing school counselors-in-training, requiring empathic and clear supervisory support. In this session, participants will briefly review supervision models and then be presented with three case studies drawn from clinical supervision experiences, focusing on clinical strategies and skills in working with K-12 students. In these case studies, participants will be presented with supervision situations and utilize their supervision model and consultation with others to identify and practice how they would address the situation.
Course Objectives:
1) Participants will review supervision models, identifying their own strengths and challenges.
2) Participants will utilize clinical case studies to practice supervisory techniques and strategies to support counselor-in-training development.
