Promoting Self-Regulation in Youth- Part 1

Integrating Polyval Theory, Mindfulness, and Somatic Techniques

When dysregulation disrupts the learning environment, understanding why it happens is only half the battle. This two-part, evidence-informed series bridges the preparation-practice gap by translating nervous system science into immediate, grounded intervention. Move past abstract theory and build
fluency in supporting physiological and emotional regulation.
  • Part 1: Science & Structure — Unpack the neurobiology of stress responses and acquire a practical framework to map student dysregulation patterns.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Explain the neurobiological mechanisms driving acute and chronic stress responses in youth.
  • Differentiate between top-down from bottom-up strategies.
  • Explore your interoception through the application of somatic approaches.
