Club of the Month Spotlight:
Global Sustainable Business Club

The OSE's Club of the Month is the Global Sustainable Business Club (GSBC)! The mission of GSBC is to raise awareness of our shared responsibility to care for our common home, locally and globally. By fostering a greater awareness of sustainability internationally and the role of business in effectuating positive change, we can demonstrate our commitment to global and sustainable business practices through our academic, personal, and professional endeavors and choices.

The Global Sustainable Business Club is new and anyone is welcome to join the club! Our main concept of the club is to inform students about sustainability at the national level. While sustainability is important on our campus, we plan to also look outside Loyola and get involved with communities about sustainability. One event we recently hosted last semester was as a holiday event where we made cards for refugees in the Baltimore area. We hope to see you at our future events!

We plan to have weekly meetings, panels, and information sessions where students can come and learn more about these topics! If you are into business, sustainability, or just want to learn more this club is for you!  If you are interested in joining please contact Club President Evelyn Williams (efwilliams@loyola.edu) or Club Moderator Dr. Astrid Schmidt-King (aschmidt-king@loyola.edu).

Want to be OSE's February Club of the Month? Submit an application on The Bridge! Deadline to apply is Friday, January 27th.

Monthly RSO Highlights

If your club would like to be featured in future newsletter photo collages, please send photos from your RSO's events to Natalie (nfcummins@loyola.edu) or Jack (jlyeager@loyola.edu)!

RoadTrip Atlas Leadership Position

The OSE is seeking applications for our RoadTrip Atlas leadership position set to take place during fall break in 2023. RoadTrip is Loyola’s longest sophomore tradition, and after a brief hiatus due to COVID-19, RoadTrip is back! Those who attend look forward to a weekend-long retreat where they have the opportunity to take a deep dive into their vocation and discernment.

One of the aspects of RoadTrip that make it so great are our student leader Atlases. Atlases are current sophomores and juniors who are committed to

  • the process of genuinely seeking sources of joy,
  • uncovering gifts and talents, and
  • examining ways to serve the world, both for themselves and with others.

As an Atlas you will guide student participants through small group discussions and give a brief talk on your own vocational discernment journey.

The full position description and responsibilities are included at the top of the application. Applications open Wednesday, January 18 at 8am and will close Monday, February 6, 2023 at 11:55pm.

Questions can be directed to Katie Derreth, Assistant Director of Student Engagement (krderreth@loyola.edu).
