Dr van Breukelen Wins Best Paper in Ichthyology 2024
Professor Dr Natalie van Breukelen was awarded Best Paper in Ichthyology for 2024 by the Journal of the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists. The official announcement was released in December 2025. Congratulations Dr van Breukelen!
2026 Hauber Summer Research Program Application Due January 30, 2026
Undergraduate students at Loyola University Maryland pursuing studies in Natural and Applied Sciences and are interested in collaborating with a faculty mentor on research in their chosen field are invited to submit applications to the 2026 Hauber Summer Research Program. The Hauber fellowships have proven to be a catalyst for numerous students, opening doors to campus and national accolades, collaborative authorship on presentations or manuscripts, and successful transitions into professional or graduate programs. Additionally, Hauber Research Fellows will have multiple opportunities to showcase their research posters throughout the 2026-2027 academic year. This collaborative experience not only equips students with valuable research insights but also provides faculty members with assistance on their projects, fostering a rewarding direct engagement with students.
2026 Haig Scholars Program Application Due January 30,2026
The 2026 Haig Scholars Program is an academic excellence and leadership program for students majoring in Natural and Applied Sciences. The program recognizes the accomplishments of highly motivated students based on academic work, the impact of participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, meaningful community engagement, and impact as student leaders.

Sleep and Circadian Hygiene in Norway Summer Course applications due February 13, 2026
Join Dr Craig Myrum for the NEW international summer course, Sleep and Circadian Hygiene in NORWAY!
Program Includes:
• Visiting laboratories at the University of Bergen (Norway) that study sleep and circadian rhythm
• Exploring Bryggen (right photo)--a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Bergen--a city surrounded by mountains
• A 3-day excursion to Sognefjord--Norway's longest and deepest fjord
• An examination of sleep and circadian "hygiene" through the lens of the Land of the Midnight Sun
Dates: May 19-31, 2026
Fee: $4,250 - Includes tuition, housing, some group meals, group excursions/tours, and entrance to museums. Airfare not included.
