Welcome to the First-Year Feature!

The First-Year Feature is our newsletter created by first-years for first-years! We will provide updates about what we are doing in SGA, athletics, events, and other "happenings" at Loyola. Feel free to reach out to any of our representatives at any time with comments, questions, and concerns! Click on the "First-Year Feature" banner to be taken to our class website.

Welcome Back Greyhounds!

We hope you had a fantastic and relaxing Easter break and that you are well-prepared to finish out the semester. Let's finish out this year strong! Good luck hounds!

Upcoming Events

Here is a short list of upcoming events. 

  • Cookies and Contacts: Monday, April 17th from 1pm-3pm on the Quad
    • Join the Women's Center for Insomnia Cookies on the Quad to meet some of our on and off campus resources!
  • Joint Conference: Wednesday, April 19th from 9:15pm to 10:15pm in Knott Hall B01
    • Bi-weekly meeting with the entire Student Government Association to discuss current initiatives, collaborate with outside speakers/groups, and more. Open to the entire Student Body. 
  • York Road Community Day: Saturday, April 22nd from 9:30am-12:30pm at the York Road Initiative Office: 5104 York Road
    • Come get your hands dirty with neighbors to accomplish projects to beautify and maintain our shared York Road community! Projects include maintaining street trees, planting new trees and flowers, painting, clean up and more! For more information contact Jacob Bierstaker at yricommercial@loyola.edu.
  • Escalation Workshop: Tuesday, April 25th from 6pm-7:20pm in Beatty Hall 318
    • Escalation is a film that honestly and compellingly tells the story of an abusive relationship- from its sweet beginnings to the tragic end. The authentic depiction of unhealthy behavior escalating into violence helps you understand and recognize the early signs of relationship abuse.
      • Food will be provided.
  • Cornhole and Crafts: Friday, April 28th from 7pm-9pm in the 4th Floor Program Room
    • Come join the Office of Student Engagement in a fun filled night of cornhole & crafts! Win 3 games of cornhole & win a prize! While you aren't playing cornhole, come paint mason jars & pots that filled be filled with wildflower seeds & succulents! Prizes & Crafts on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Loyola Palooza: Sunday, April 30th on the Quad
    • Thousands of students, their friends and siblings, faculty, staff, and other members of the local community convene on the Quad every April to enjoy a festival that includes music, carnival rides, and food. Organized by Loyola’s Student Government Association, Loyolapalooza is open to the public and free of charge.

  • Study Day: May 2nd
  • Final Exams begin on May 3rd

Would you like to support our student-athletes? Attend one (or many) of their games/events in your Loyola apparel!
