This week, we will be celebrating the official inauguration of President Terry Sawyer. Having the ability to attend these events gives us the opportunity to represent our class and embrace the Loyola University Maryland community. All students are encouraged to attend any and all inaugural events. Please remember that you are representatives of our class year and please act accordingly.

Timeline of Events

Monday, October 10, 2022 

• Inaugural Symposium in McGuire Hall @ 3:00 PM  
  
  -A symposium on the theme of “Enacting Eloquentia Perfecta: Reimagining Academic Discourse and Building Community in the Modern University” with Keynote Speaker Kathleen Sprows Cummings, Ph.D., followed by a faculty discussion moderated by Cheryl Moore Thomas, Ph.D.  
  -A light reception will follow 

• Student Celebration on the Academic Quadrangle @ 8:00 PM 
  -A celebration for students with music by the Kelly Bell Band, various activities, walking tacos and other snacks, and a firework and a laser display.
  -There will be a commemorative give-away on a first come first serve basis  

Tuesday, October 11, 2022 

• Mass of Thanksgiving in the Reitz Arena @ 2:00 PM 
  -A special Mass to mark the Inauguration  
  -Following Mass will be a fellowship and light desserts on the plaza outside the south entrance of Reitz Arena 

Wednesday, October 12, 2022 

• Inaugural Convocation in the Reitz Arena @ 11:00 AM 
  -The formal Inauguration of Terrance M. Sawyer, J.D. beginning at 11:00 AM with the Academic Procession
  -Inaugural Luncheon on the Academic Quadrangle immediately after the Inauguration

CLASSES CANCELED:  

• October 11: All Undergraduate and Graduate classes will be canceled from 2:00pm-4:30pm for Mass 

• October 12: All Undergraduate and Graduate classes will be canceled from 11:00am-2:00pm for Convocation and Lunch
