Happy October! A few updates from the Office of Student Engagement:
Weekend Programming Events on The Bridge:
As you continue to submit your club's events for the semester, please be mindful of what counts as a Weekend Program: event should be social, scheduled for a Friday evening or any point on Saturday, and be something more than a general club meeting. If your event meets this criteria, you can tag it as such in your event submission to be included in the Weekend Programming calendar.
SGA Funding Reminders:
Please keep the following in mind when requesting funding from SGA -
SGA recommends including a buffer amount (more funds than you anticipate spending) in your funding requests. This accounts for potential price fluctuations. Any unspent funds from your requested amount will be returned to the appropriations budget.
To be considered in a given week, all funding requests should be submitted no later than Mondays at 11:59pm. Requests submitted following the Monday deadline will be reviewed the following week. SGA advises submitting funding requests a minimum of 3-4 weeks prior to your event to allow ample time for fund disbursement.
We're Excited to Announce our October Club of the Month - The Tabletop Club!!!
The Tabletop Club started last year to create a spot for those who love to play board games. Since then, we have grown into a thriving community. We offer members the opportunity to play games ranging anywhere from Catan to Warhammer 40k and provide a welcoming environment for individuals with a range of experience. We have utilized over $800 in SGA funding to secure club materials and games, and we look to continue to grow in support of our club members interests.
Recently, we have been hosting weekly game nights in Knott Hall, where members come to play with friends. In the near future, we hope to collaborate with local game stores and bring in experienced teachers to show how to paint and build Warhammer 40k armies. Outside of our official events, members have utilized our Discord to start Dungeons and Dragons campaigns and other group activities. We hope for more members to join and come to our events as the semester continues!
Congratulations again to Tabletop Club! Looking to be OSE's November Club of the Month? We're currently accepting applications! The form is linked at the bottom of this newsletter - tell us all the great things your club is doing and you may just be selected as our next Club of the Month!
