Join the Art History Program and Loyola Notre Dame Library for the opening reception of "The Extra Dimension: Sister Mary John de Matha: Artist, Teacher, Nun", a LNDL exhibition curated by Kristine Andal, ’26! A German-American sculptor and educator who taught at Notre Dame of Maryland University for 27 years, Sister Mary John de Matha Bersch trained in fine arts and was deeply committed to both artistic practice and teaching. She worked across materials including metal, wood, and stone to explore form, spirituality, and public space. The exhibition highlights Sister John de Matha’s contributions as both an artist and educator, while also recovering her legacy within LNDL’s archival collections.
