Mission
ALANA (African, Latinx, Asian and Native American) Services is committed to providing support, services, and programs that encourage the success of students of color at Loyola University Maryland. Through intentional programming and a broad spectrum of services, we seek to foster the academic, personal, spiritual, and leadership development of ALANA students.

As a department, ALANA sponsors a variety of programs aimed at enriching and educating members of Loyola's campus community about issues related to diversity, inclusion and cultural awareness.

ALANA Services oversees 8 ALANA Student Organizations that provide the institution with events that seek to celebrate Diversity and Inclusion while building the visibility of students that identify at Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). While ALANA primarily supports students through their racial and ethnic identity development, ALANA also seeks to support students through an intersectional framework because students have various identities, and the support can expand to help many students that would fall under the marginalized population.

The Karson Institute provides a scholarly space for professors, students, social justice workers, and activists to come together to research, discuss, debate, and explore answers to America's most urgent questions on inequality, injustice, and racial inequity. We are committed to establishing a research and data-based environment built on intersectional liberated ideas and ideologies.

Mission
Messina supports and enhances a vibrant campus climate that engages students, faculty, administrators, and the broader community in distinct and meaningful ways, including especially an emphasis on academic excellence and intellectual inquiry.

Messina is named for the city in Sicily, Italy, where the Jesuits established their first college to welcome lay students. The college at Messina set the tone for how Jesuit education has endured and evolved throughout its nearly 500-year history—through a commitment to academic excellence attained across a range of disciplines, and to the development of the whole person.

Messina is designed to instill the intellectual curiosity and self-knowledge necessary for a first-year student's successful start to his or her Loyola education, whose commitment to personal and social responsibility reflects the Jesuit, Catholic academic and faith traditions. As a result of participation in Messina, first-year students will show progress to a deeper and fuller understanding of the interconnections unique and essential to a Jesuit Education in a contemporary world. Along the way, students will experience personalized mentorship, advising, peer education and ongoing support throughout their first year. Messina events - both on and off campus - are free to all students and in most cases, transportation is provided.

The National Fellowships Office assists Loyola undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni in finding and applying for competitive fellowships, scholarships, summer programs, and awards. We support students' success through:
- Timely and targeted information
- Guidance and tips
- Feedback throughout your application process and committee interview
- Institutional endorsement and submission services for most selective scholarships
- Celebration and recognition of award winners

Mission
The Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) works to meet the University's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion with an integrative model of leadership. The model draws its strength from partnerships and collaborations with every division of the University. OEI provides leadership, education, consultation, and assistance to the campus to embrace equity and inclusion as a pillar of excellence.

In collaboration with other university offices, divisions, strategic plans, and staff, the OEI supports an institutional climate of Ignatian Citizenship by balancing opportunities for individual enrichment and reflection on how one's social identities influence choice and responsibilities and collaborative work for justice.
