Scholar of the Month: Carter Dickey
Revitalizing the Peer Mentoring Program
In the spirit of recognizing outstanding contributions to our Program, we are delighted to introduce our Scholar of the Month feature. Each month, we spotlight an exceptional individual whose dedication and impact leave an indelible mark on our community.
This April, we honor Carter Dickey '26.
Carter is a Sophomore Sellinger Scholar from Madison, Mississippi. He is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting with a double major in Finance. As a Scholar, Carter has not only excelled academically but has also left an indelible mark on his community through his commitment to mentoring.
At the core of Carter's achievements lies his transformative work in revitalizing the mentoring program within the Scholar community. Recognizing the profound impact mentorship can have on academic success and personal growth, Carter took the reins as the Chief Mentoring Officer of our Scholars Executive board and spearheaded the implementation of a mentoring evaluation form. This innovative tool didn't just streamline the mentoring process; it significantly enhanced its effectiveness. Carter's foresight and dedication breathed new life into the program, creating a enhanced professional environment where scholars could thrive academically and personally. He has also created a new Sophomore-Alumni Peer Mentoring program, which will launch in May. Over 75 Alumni have already signed up to mentor our scholars, and more continue filling out the form each day!
Beyond his role in mentoring, Carter embodies a well-rounded and team-oriented approach in all facets of his academic journey. He is also an active member in the Knights of Columbus at Loyola. Whether collaborating with peers on projects or leading discussions in the classroom, he consistently demonstrates a commitment to excellence and a genuine desire to uplift those around him.
As we honor Carter this April, let us not only celebrate his achievements but also recognize the profound impact he has made through his leadership and dedication. Congratulations to Carter for being selected as the April Sellinger Scholar of the Month—an achievement richly deserved for his unwavering commitment to academic excellence and mentorship.

March Recap
Loyola Consulting Group Presentations: The Loyola Consulting Group recently concluded its latest series of deliverables, showcasing the innovative solutions and strategic insights developed by its members. Some of our scholars were able to apply their academic knowledge to real-world business challenges, offering valuable recommendations to local businesses and nonprofit organizations. Thank you to the Executive Director of LCG, Alexa Junikiewicz, who is also a Sellinger Scholar!
Scholars Participate in VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance): In an exemplary display of community service and academic application, many Sellinger Scholars have participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Led by Executive in Residence Mike Bender, this initiative offers free tax help to low-to-moderate-income individuals, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and limited English speakers. Our scholars contributed their time and expertise to ensure accurate and efficient tax preparation for those in need, reinforcing Loyola's commitment to social justice and community engagement.
T-Rowe Price Recruiters Visit: A highlight of the semester was the visit from T-Rowe Price recruiters, who provided invaluable insights into the world of finance and investment. Scholars had the opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals, learning about career pathways, internships, and employment opportunities within the company. This event was not only informative but also a prime networking opportunity, allowing students to connect with potential mentors and employers.
Alumni-Sophomore Mentoring Program Forms Sent: The Sellinger Scholars program is thrilled to announce the rollout of the Alumni-Sophomore Mentoring Program. Forms were recently sent out to pair sophomores with alumni mentors, fostering a supportive network that bridges the gap between current students and graduates. This program aims to offer guidance, advice, and professional development opportunities, ensuring our scholars are well-prepared for their future careers.
Accepted Students Day II Tabling: Some of our scholars shone brightly during the second Accepted Students Day, engaging with prospective students and their families at the Sellinger Scholars table. Through discussions, presentations, and personal stories, our scholars provided insights into the unique opportunities and close-knit community that define the Loyola experience.
