Hello Class of 2027! My name is Maria Torchia, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for Class President. As a Management and Leadership Consulting major with minors in Political Science and International Business, I am passionate about leadership, service, and building a strong community. At Loyola, I’m involved in the Student Government as your Class Secretary, Hounds Helping Hounds, and the Sellinger Scholars Honors Program. Through these experiences — along with my work tutoring students and volunteering with the VITA tax assistance program — I’ve developed strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills that I am eager to put to work for our class. If elected, I will focus on making our class more connected and engaged by planning events that bring us together, creating new ways for your voice to be heard, and advocating for initiatives that support both our academic and social experience. I’m ready to lead with heart, determination, and action. I’m proud to be part of the Class of 2027, and I would be honored to serve as your President.
My name is Audra Ballenger, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for SGA fall assembly in the upcoming SGA Assembly elections. I am an interdisciplinary leadership and management consulting/psychology major at Loyola, where I also work at the Fitness and Aquatics Center on campus. I grew up in Baltimore, and throughout high school, I volunteered at several homeless shelters and food pantries, experiences that deeply shaped my understanding of the importance of community engagement and support. These volunteer opportunities taught me the value of empathy and the impact of giving back, which I’m eager to bring to my work in the Assembly. I would be thrilled to help foster greater involvement between Loyola and the Baltimore community, creating meaningful connections and opportunities for service. In addition to my community service background, I am currently a member of the Psychology Club and will serve on the executive board next semester. Through this, I’ve gained valuable insight into mental health and how to support others, reinforcing my belief in the importance of leadership that listens, uplifts, and ensures everyone has a voice. I am passionate about leadership and creating inclusive, vibrant environments where everyone feels supported. If elected, I will work to ensure that all members have a voice, and I’ll focus on initiatives that bring us closer together as a community—both within Loyola and the broader Baltimore area. Thank you for considering my candidacy. I am eager for the opportunity to serve and help build a stronger, more inclusive, and engaged campus and community. Thank you for your support!

Let’s work together to create a student government that truly serves you!
Hey! My name is Sophia Devine, I am a Political Science Major with a Marketing Minor from Havre de Grace Maryland, and I am running for the Class of ’27 fall Assembly. Last year I served on the Assembly, where I helped create events and volunteered around campus, the Marketing Committee while also running the Loyola Class of 2027 Instagram account, and the Student Affairs Committee, where I’ve listened to your concerns and became an advocate for students needs. Outside of SGA, I am involved in the One Love chapter on campus and am dedicated to educating students on how to maintain healthy relationships and offer support to those in need. I am also an active member of the Pre-Law Society and am passionate about engaging students in organizations around campus and creating an inclusive space for all students to collaborate. If re-elected, my goal for rising juniors is to use my marketing experience to keep students who are abroad engaged with our campus life and make sure every voice feels represented. Thank you for your support!
Hello! My name is Donovan Reich-Hale, and I am thrilled to be running for class assembly. As a Loyola student, I understand how hectic and demanding our school days can be. That’s why I truly appreciate the role of SGA in making student life more enjoyable—creating events that not only relieve stress but also bring us together as a community. Through these opportunities, we get to connect, build friendships, and support one another, and I would be honored to contribute to that mission. If elected, I promise to uphold SGA’s vital role on campus and advocate for events that genuinely reflect the needs and interests of our student body. I will work closely with fellow SGA members and faculty to foster a strong, supportive, and inclusive environment—one where every Loyola student feels valued and embraced, regardless of their background or interests.
Hi everyone! My name is Caroline Westervelt, and I am a Political Science major with a Writing minor. I'm excited to announce my candidacy for the 2027 assembly and would be honored to represent our class. I am a member of Loyola's chapter of One Love, where I advocate for healthy relationships and campus safety. I'm also a part of the Pre-law Society, which has helped me explore my career interests and connect with other students pursuing law. I'm also proud to be a part of the national Writing Academic Honor Society, which reflects my belief in the power of strong communication and thoughtful dialogue. As someone deeply committed to building an inclusive and connected campus, my mission is to ensure that every student—whether here in Baltimore or studying abroad— feels equally supported, heard, and engaged. It's more important than ever to strengthen our community and maintain that close-knit spirit that makes our class so special. Thank you for your consideration and I hope I have earned your support.
Hi! My name is Ariana and I am excited to be running for the class of 2027 senate. I have held this role for two years and would extremely grateful to be elected again. As a dedicated student at Loyola and a passionate advocate for inclusive leadership, I am eager to serve and represent the voices of my peers. Throughout my academic journey on the pre-veterinary track, I have learned the importance of diligence, empathy, and collaboration. These values guide my commitment to making meaningful contributions to our campus community. I aim to advocate for initiatives and amendments that promote diversity, equity, and create an environment where every student feels empowered to succeed. I respectfully ask for your vote and support. Together, we can create a better future for all Loyola students. Thank you!
My name is Silvia Raquel Gonzalez Mendez, and I am honored to run for senate for the Student Government Association. I currently serve as a Resident Assistant for first-year students and am actively involved in First Generation Alliance, Leading Women of Tomorrow, and the President’s Student Advocacy Council. These roles have allowed me to foster inclusive spaces, mentor new students, and advocate for issues that matter deeply to our campus community. As a Latina and a first-generation college student, I understand the power of representation and the importance of amplifying underrepresented voices. I am committed to listening to the student body and working toward solutions on issues impacting both our campus and the broader Baltimore community. Through my involvement in expungement clinics with the Pre-Law Society, I have seen firsthand how policy, access, and advocacy intersect—and I plan to bring that same passion for justice and equity into my role as senator. If elected, I will support amendments to the SGA Constitution and By-Laws, work diligently on club appropriations to ensure fair distribution of the SGA budget, and thoughtfully evaluate student parking tickets. Most importantly, I will continue showing up for students—being present, listening actively, and advocating for real change. Whether it’s student concerns on campus or broader community issues, I will prioritize transparency, communication, and belonging. I know firsthand how hard it is to find someone who looks like you, speaks your language, or understands your struggle to express yourself—and I hope to be that person for others: a voice, an advocate, and a source of support for my community. Thank you for considering my candidacy. I look forward to the opportunity to serve and elevate the voices of all Greyhounds as your SGA Senator.
My name is Treasure Abere, and I am a rising junior, class of 2027, here at Loyola University. I am running for a Senate position because I am deeply passionate about advocating for the student body and ensuring that our voices are not just heard, but influence the decisions that impact our campus. As a member of the Senate, I want to be a strong advocate for the diverse concerns and ideas of all students. I believe real leadership starts with listening, and then pursuing real change. I’m committed to making Loyola a place where every student feels heard, valued, and empowered. My experience as a CCSJ volunteer, member of the Pre-Law Society, and my ongoing community service in the Baltimore area has deepened my understanding of the challenges and strengths within both our campus and the communities we’re connected to. These experiences have shown me the power and importance of advocacy, collaboration, and stepping up when it matters most. If elected, I’ll work collaboratively with my peers to address what matters most to you and help Loyola become a stronger, more united campus for all of us. I’m excited for the opportunity to grow in this role, and even more excited to grow alongside all of you.
