Assembly

Valentina McColgan

Hi everyone! My name is Valentina, I am a member of the class of 2029 running for class assembly for the upcoming school year. It's honestly crazy to think that our first year together is coming to an end already. Although it is hard to believe it, it has made me reflect on how much potential we have as a class. If elected, I want to help make next year even more meaningful, fun and connected for all of us. I would love to bring more quick, stop by on a study break weeknight activities that reflect on what we enjoy, along with more on-campus events that bring us together and support our classmates in their passions. While I do have ideas I am excited about, my main focus while running this campaign is to listen. This is your college experience just a much as mine, and I truly want to hear your thoughts, your ideas, and what you want to see change and grow. My goal as an assembly member is to make sure everyone feels represented, included, and supported--and to be able to say that I did my part to help each of you feel more connected and involved on campus is my biggest wish. Thank you so much for this opportunity and I hope you choice to vote Valentina!

Maraki Negash

Hello! My name is Maraki Negash, and I am a freshman at Loyola University of Maryland. I’m running again to be one of your class assembly because I want to be the bridge between your ideas and real action. Whether organizing events reflecting what you want, making sure your voice is heard in planning, or bringing more energy to campus life. I don’t just want to plan events, I want to make sure they’re inclusive, exciting, and unforgettable. I know how important it is to have someone who listens, follows through, and isn’t afraid to advocate for what matters. I’m ready to be that person. As your representative, I want to build a stronger sense of community by creating opportunities that celebrate diversity, encourage connections, and ensure that every student feels welcomed, supported, and truly heard. Let’s make this year one to remember. As someone who already has experience planning events, I really want to make sure your ideas are coming to life.

Esther Candelo

My name is Esther Candelo, and I’m running for Class Assembly. I was born and raised in Venezuela, but I’ve lived in Richmond, Virginia, for nine years. I plan to become an immigration lawyer, a goal that feeds my passion for listening, advocating, ensuring every voice is heard, and creating unforgettable experiences. Serving as the Class President this year has taught me the vitality of responsibility, teamwork, and advocating for those I represent. From events and traditions to working with student leaders and campus organizations, I’ve learned what is expected of an assembly member and believe that I can fulfill what's needed. Vote for me, and I will make sure to maintain a stable class community based on inclusion, communication, and action!

I’m excited about planning fun, meaningful events and creating class apparel that people are proud to wear on and off campus. I bring dedication, creativity, and a strong commitment to making our campus more engaging and unified.

Senate

Denym Kynard

Hi again, my name is Denym Kynard and I am privileged to be on the ballot again to be your sophomore class senator this coming school year. This past year it has been a thrill of mine to serve on the Senate, learning about new clubs, initiatives, and passions that inhabit our campus. This coming year I would love to be more hands on when it comes to conflict. I have learned over my term that in this legislative body, like any other organization, change takes time but when change comes you will be able to see and feel it. I look forward to planning fun events for our class, keeping communication open, and working to ensure your individualistic ideas don’t get lost in the effort of bringing them to life. VOTE DENYM for Senate!!

Harry Hillman

Hello, I am Harry Hillman. I am a political science major and running for Class of 2029 senate. I have strong leadership experience through my time as a boy scout where I learned the value of responsibility, teamwork, and service to others. This also helped me gain experience in leadership during my Eagle project. I want to bring these qualities to Loyola. I am also actively involved in IM sports as a player and an official which has shown me fairness and the ability to work despite pressure are golden skills. If elected, I pledge to bring a stronger sense of community to Loyola by expanding opportunities for community involvement and school involvement. I promise to ensure that student’s voices are heard and represented in student government. I believe my combination of leadership, passion, and dedication will allow me to contribute positively to Loyola’s student government. While there are many candidates running, I would be honored to serve as your Class of 2029 senator.

Liam Stevens

My name is Liam Stevens, and I am running for the class of 2029 senate, and I’m striving to make Loyola a better place for all students. With Loyola’s $15,000 yearly student club budget, $2000 goes unused. As your class of 2029 senator I will make sure that every dollar of that budget goes back into student ran clubs. It will also be my duty as senator to hear every concern from Loyola students. I will make sure that I am doing everything in my ability to make students felt heard. My leadership and teamwork skills from football makes me highly qualified to carry out the job as senator. I look forward to working with all students next fall.
