Starting a New Club / Organization

Have an idea for a new club on campus?

We're happy to support you through the steps involved in launching your organization. We work with students at the beginning of each semester (fall and spring) to launch their clubs. The New RSO Interest Period will reopen in the Fall 2024 semester starting Tuesday, September 10th at 9am. We will continue to accept new RSO applications through noon on Monday, September 23rd.

New club applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis during this time frame. It is highly encouraged that students are intentional but also mindful of deadlines during this process. Students should look to submit all required materials and schedule the launch meeting (final step of the new club process) prior to Friday, September 27th.

Step #1: Fill out the New RSO Interest Form

Fill out the New RSO Interest form and share your club idea. In this form, you will also be asked to submit the names of your anticipated club moderator, initial club leaders, and initial members. Once we review the submitted materials, you will hear from one of Student Engagement's Graduate Assistants to schedule a consultation meeting.

Please note that during this time, OSE may deny your request based on similarity to other clubs, incomplete information, or issues regarding club design, purpose, or affiliation.

NOTE: If you are looking to start a club, you will need to submit this form prior to noon on Monday, September 23rd to be considered for the fall semester launch cycle.

Step #2: Consultation Meeting

You'll meet with one of our Graduate Assistants in the Office of Student Engagement to discuss your group goals, future plans, and registration requirements. Think of this meeting as an interview for your club - please come prepared to discuss your vision and plans for the club.

Step #3: Additional Paperwork

Shortly after your consult meeting, you will hear from the Program Coordinator in Student Engagement regarding next steps. Should your club move forward to the next step of the process, you will need to complete the following:

1. Have your moderator (a full-time staff, faculty, or administrator) complete the moderator verification form. This form tells us your moderator commits to the role and agrees to the expectations laid out for successful club moderation.
2. Compile your Club's Constitution, a guiding document meant to guide decision making and house the club's mission statement, using a template we provide.

NOTE: the links for each will be shared in the email you receive from the Program Coordinator in Student Engagement. Please complete these items promptly.

Step #4: Launch Meeting & Registration on The Bridge

Sending the completed Club Constitution to the Program Coordinator in Student Engagement will prompt the scheduling of the club launch meeting. In this meeting, we will review the constitution and next steps for officers and members. We'll also complete registration and setup on The Bridge.

Please come to this meeting prepared with officer and member names, your club mission, and other pertinent club information handy.
