Starting a New Club/Organization

Have an idea for a new club on campus? We're happy to support you through the steps involved in launching your organization. The Office of Student Leadership and Involvement works with students at the beginning of each fall and spring semester to launch clubs.

The New RSO Interest Period will is now closed for the Fall 2025 semester. The New RSO Interest Form will reopen in the Spring 2026 semester starting Tuesday, January 20th at 9am.We will continue to accept new RSO applications through 11:59pm on Tuesday, February 3rd. At that time, we will be unable to accept proposals for new clubs until the Fall 2026 semester.

New club applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis during this time frame. It is highly encouraged that students are intentional but also mindful of deadlines during this process. Please review the process below - you may reach out to getinvolved@loyola.edu with any questions.

Step #1: Fill out the New RSO Interest Form

Fill out the New RSO Interest Form and share your club idea. In this form, you will also be asked to submit the names of your anticipated club moderator, club leaders, and initial members. Once we review your application, you will hear from one of the Graduate Assistants in the Office of Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI) to schedule a consultation meeting.

Please note that during this time, SLI may deny your new club request based on similarity to other clubs, incomplete information, or issues regarding club design, purpose, or affiliation.

NOTE: If you are looking to start a club in the spring 2026 semester cycle, you will need to submit this form between 1/20 at 9am and 2/3 at 11:59pm to be considered.

Step #2: Consultation Meeting

You'll meet with one of our Graduate Assistants in the Office of Student Leadership and Involvement to discuss your group goals, future plans, and registration requirements. Think of this meeting as an informal interview for your club - please come prepared to discuss your vision and plans for the club. This meeting generally happens within a week of submitting the New RSO Interest Form.

Step #3: Additional Paperwork

Shortly after your consult meeting, you will hear from the Assistant Director for clubs and organizations in Student Leadership and Involvement with next steps. If your club is cleared to move forward in the process, you will need to complete the following:

1. Have your moderator (a full-time staff, faculty, or administrator at Loyola) complete the moderator verification form. This form tells us your moderator commits to the role and agrees to the expectations laid out for successful club moderation.
2. Create your Club's Constitution, a guiding document meant to guide decision making and house the club's mission statement, using a template provided to you.

NOTE: the links for each will be shared in the email you receive from the Assistant Director in SLI. Please complete these items promptly.

Step #4: Launch Meeting & Registration on The Bridge

Sending the completed Club Constitution to the Assistant Director for clubs and organizations in SLI will prompt the scheduling of the club launch meeting. In this meeting, we will review the constitution and next steps for officers and members. We'll also complete registration and setup on The Bridge.

Please come to this meeting prepared with officer and member names, your club mission, and other pertinent club information handy. Feel free to bring a notebook to take notes or a laptop to follow along with Bridge group setup.
